Weekend Soccer Television Schedule - 30 April, 1 May 2011

The most important matches still are the midweek matches as many of the continental championship tournaments close in on the finals.  Still, we have numerous domestic leagues that are coming to and end.  Although the champions of many of them are foregone conclusions, save the French Ligue Un, there are still battles for relegation going on in all of the top leagues.  But do you really want to watch those matches?  Yes, if your club is involved.  I remember following Newcastle United a lot closer two seasons ago when it was mired in relegation hell.  So, in that sense this weekend’s matches are very important.

In another sense, however, there aren’t many matchups between top clubs this weekend.  There are two matches involving a pair of clubs in the WCR Top 25, though.  In England, Manchester United takes on Arsenal at Emirates Stadium on Sunday in a match that looked extremely important a few weeks ago, but the Gunners’ recent stumbles have minimized the importance of the matchup.  In Germany, Bayern Munich hosts Schalke 04, but in the big scheme of things, this match has nothing to do with who wins the German Bundesliga.

I’ll watch Manchester United and Arsenal anyway, as I guess you will as well, and probably a few of the others.  I’ve got nothing better to do.  For those of you who also have nothing better to do, below is a list of the matches being broadcast this weekend en los Estados Unidos.  Have a great weekend!!!
