Okay, I’m getting close to just throwing up my hands on ESPN, especially ESPN Deportes, who refuse to post schedules more than several hours ahead of time for the weekend. I know ESPND is likely to broadcast both German and Spanish football this weekend, but I don’t know which matches. I could guess, for example I find it hard to believe that between GolTV and ESPND, nobody is going to broadcast the Barcelona match, but as of the moment I’m writing this, nobody claims to be – but then ESPND isn’t “claiming” to have determined anything it’s showing this weekend, so who the Hell knows?
So that’s my beef.
What about the matches we know will be on. There are plenty of those. Two of them, both on Sunday, feature a pair of WCR Top 25 clubs. The first to take place will happen at Stamford Bridge when Chelsea hosts Liverpool in a match on Fox Soccer Channel. On GolTV, a few hours later, Sevilla will host Real Madrid in a battle to determine if the Primera Division will be a two-horse race.
There are plenty of other great matches. Let’s not forget the Glasgow derby between Rangers and Celtic, also on Sunday. Monday will feature a battle between Aston Villa and Manchester City. At this point, I can’t find anybody broadcasting these matches in the United States, but ESPN2 does show Premier League matches and, as discussed above, they are incompetent when it comes to producing a schedule, so anything is possible. Below is the weekend’s schedule, including best guesses for the ESPN (Manson) family of networks.
(Ed: I found some additional information. It still isn't from ESPN, but it's the best I can do for now. Unfortunately, I won't be following ESPN's scheduling people on a 24-hour vigil, so this likely is the final update for the weekend.)
