After a few really good weekends of football on television, we return to the mid-late-season funk this weekend. There are two matches between WCR Top 25 clubs this weekend, but only one of them is being televised here in the U.S. On Sunday, FSC will broadcast the match between Aston Villa and Liverpool at Anfield. It should be interesting because Liverpool is playing better than any other club in the world at the moment and Aston Villa has been ice cold recently, recently being eliminated from the UEFA Cup and falling back down to fifth in the Premiership. The other match between featuring ranked clubs is the Portuguese League Cup final between Sporting CP and Benfica.
Another feature of the weekend will be the return of the MLS. It may not be the best action on television, but it is always competitive and I enjoy it. FSC will show a doubleheader of MLS matches on Saturday night and TeleFutura will open its MLS season with a match between DC United and the Los Angeles Galaxy.
