I hate to sound like a complainer (then, don’t complain), but there’s not an awful lot of great football this weekend. There are a few matches that could be good, and I’m sure there are some matches that will be good that I’m not expecting to be good, but most of the matchups below appear to be good clubs against not-so-good clubs. The exceptions include a pair of derbies as Real Madrid hosts Atletico de Madrid on Saturday and Torino hosts Juventus at, you might have guessed it, pretty much the exact same time.
There may not be any matches involving WCR Top 25 Clubs, but the Inter Milan/Genoa match should be great, as well. I’m also looking forward to the PSV/Twente match. It is on ESPN 360 and it also will be on ESPN Deportes, though I don’t think it is being broadcast live this week, so you’ll have to look for it sometime on Sunday.
I think time changes in the US this week. I always find out because the late French match on Sunday is at a funky time. (Why is it at four? It’s always at three!!! Oh, time must be changing again.) Because of the time-change, Sunday’s schedule may be off, but I had a team of Swiss engineers working on the Sunday football times last night, so hopefully they are now correct. If you have corrections or additions, please let me know. In addition to screwing up the Sunday schedule, our early start to the daylight savings season always screws up my Sunday nights because I have to start the number crunching an hour later than usual. Oh, well. I’ll complain no more.
The midweek matches should be much more exciting than the weekend matches. But, for now, have a great weekend!!!
