Here at World Club Rankings, you know what we like – Club Football. Unfortunately, we will not get very much of that this weekend as almost every top domestic league in the world goes into a little hiatus for World Cup 2010 qualifiers. That means that only one club form the most recent WCR Top 25 is in action (Gremio) and the only club matches on television here in the States are MLS matches.
All in all, however, watching international football is more exciting that watching most paints dry and there are some pretty interesting matches this weekend – Liechenstein/Germany comes to mind – so I thought I’d bring you the schedule, as best as I could locate it, anyway. I guess it’s worth noting that the most recent FIFA World Rankings just came out and that the following Top 25 teams are on television this weekend: (1) Spain, (2) Italy, (3) Germany, (4) Netherlands, (9) Portugal, (10) Turkey, and (11) France. None of them play each other, but they could be fun to watch anyway.
The most important club match will be televised on HDNet this weekend as the top two MLS clubs face off in Columbus, Ohio, when the Crew is visited by the Revolution.
I’m not doing a Top 5 Matches of the week this week because, frankly, it’s too early for me to care about what’s going on internationally. It’ll be back next week, when the club matches come back. As always, if you have any additional information, please pass it along. Have a great weekend!!!
