This weekend the schedule is dominated by two massive games on Fox Soccer Channel on Sunday. At 9:00, the day starts in Milan as AC hosts Internazionale. Not only is it a battle of two great teams, it’s an important game for both as Inter seeks to lock up another Serie A title and AC tries to fight its way into the final Italian Champions League spot. Five hours late on FSC (with a good Liverpool/Man City matchup in between), Boca Juniors hosts River Plate in what is always a game of the year in Argentina between two South American powerhouses.
Okay, so you know what you’re doing on Sunday, but what about the other days? What to watch? Well, now that the Champions League finals are set, it seems pretty clear that the top two teams in the Premiership are the teams that you need to watch. This fact is magnified immensely by the fact that Manyoo and Chelsea are tied atop the table with only two games left. While Manyoo has the overwhelming goal differential lead, anything can happen in these final two weekends. This weekend, both teams play on Setanta USA as Manchester United hosts West Ham United at 7:30 am on Saturday and Chelsea travels to St. James’ Park to face Newcastle United at 11:00 am on Monday. (That’s not even mentioning the only game this week between two WCR Top 25 Clubs, which takes place Sunday at 8:30 am on Setanta USA as Everton travels to Emirates Stadium to take on Arsenal.)
Needless to say, though I’ll say it anyway, there are plenty of other good games this weekend that can be found all up and down your television dial. As always, these games are those broadcast on American television and all times are Eastern. I’d like to add posts listing television schedules in other parts of the world, e.g., the United Kingdom, but I’m not sure where to access the data to process the information. If you have any suggestions as to where I can find the info, I’d love to hear about it.
Tough calls for the games of the weekend this time around. I hated to leave off Barcelona/Valencia and Newcastle United/Chelsea, but there is just too much going on. That’s a good thing, though, righ?
