Some weeks it’s difficult to pick the game of the weekend. This week, that isn’t the case – and there are some really good matches this weekend. For the first time this season, however, the top two ranked teams in the WCR Top 25 face off as Manchester United travels to Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea. Not only is it two great teams facing each other, it’s an important game as well since Chelsea will draw even with Manyoo in the Premiership with a victory. I’m not particularly fond of waking up so early on a Saturday morning to watch football, but I’m damn sure going to do it.
Like I said, though, though it’s definitely the most anticipated game of the weekend, other great games will follow. In Argentina, San Lorenzo hosts Boca Juniors, who is coming off a victory over Maracaibo to squeak into the knockout rounds of the Copa Libertadores. The game is on FSC at 11pm, but can be seen live on FSE, if that’s an option for you. In Germany, four of the top five teams in the Bundesliga do battle as Hamburger hosts Schalke 04 on Saturday and first-place Bayern Munchen hosts defending champion VfB Stuttgart on Sunday. Rounding out the top five, the top two teams in the bwin Liga go head-to-head in a game that is meaningless to Porto but should still matter to Guimaraes, who is fighting off Sporting CP and Benfica for a Champions League position.
That’s all I have for this week. As always, if I’ve missed anything or if you have additional information that you wouldn’t mind sharing, please leave a comment or send me an e-mail and we will add it to the list. Cheers.
